Saddle Up for Cowboy Christmas: The Ultimate Fourth of July Rodeo Run

Every Fourth of July, the American West comes alive with the thunder of hooves, the clang of spurs, and the roar of the crowd during “Cowboy Christmas”—a whirlwind week of rodeos that marks the most lucrative stretch of the ProRodeo season. For rodeo athletes, it’s a chance to rack up earnings and points in a high-stakes sprint that can define their year.

Cowboy Christmas is the nickname for the week surrounding Independence Day when dozens of PRCA-sanctioned rodeos take place across the country. With more than 20 rodeos scheduled between July 1–6, competitors crisscross the nation, often entering multiple events per day in different states. The potential for big payouts makes it a critical time for cowboys and cowgirls aiming for the National Finals Rodeo (NFR) in December (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Finals_Rodeo)

Experience the excitement of Cowboy Christmas here in Columbiana County. Hoppel’s Arena for forty (40) years has played host to the Rodeo Championships. Contestants from the International Professional Rodeo Association and the American Professional Rodeo Association will compete in the eight different events, including bull riding, barrel racing and team roping ( https://www.wkbn.com/news/local-news/lisbon-news/organizers-say-rodeo-in-columbiana-county-this-weekend-is-safer-than-most). Contestants are coming from across the U.S. and Canada.

Cowboy Christmas is a celebration of American Heritage and community spirit. So mark your calendars for July 4th & 5th and enjoy an unforgettable experience filled with thrilling competitions followed by a night of music and fireworks.
